[MTL] Granny French Biscuits – La Cure Gourmande

Christmas is approaching! If you haven’t done your Christmas shopping, you can consider La Cure Gourmande, which is a famous French biscuitier and sucrecuitier that opened at Place Montreal Trust at level 2 (right next to the Starbucks, outside of metro exit).

La Cure Gourmande was created in 1989 in Balaruc-Les-Bains, France. This biscuit, confectionery and chocolate factory manufactures its products using traditional techniques that preserve the taste and authenticity.

With its 46 boutiques in France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, the United Arab Emirates and Kazakhstan, finally it opens its first North America boutique in Montreal! With a Provencal-style decor, shelves generously filled, ochre wood display stands, a rustic feel, old-style decorated and finished boxes that last a lifetime, which can be used to store photos, jewelry, or sewing kit!

Known for its savory and sweet artisanal biscuits, Berlandises (fruit pulp candies), choupettes (old fashioned lollipops), chocolates, caramels, caissons, nougats mixed with nuts or candies, La Cure Gourmande will bring you back to childhood! Everything is made with love, and shipped directly from France. It is packed carefully in sealed packages, so the freshness is guaranteed.

There are a lot of different choices of the metal boxes. They are all really pretty! The box is purchased separately, and the biscuits are purchased by weight.

Their biscuits are firm and crunchy. It’s less buttery. I tried the biscuit filled with chocolate. I had the “wow” face after I took the first bite. I thought it would be as buttery as the Jenny’s Cookies from Hong Kong, however, it doesn’t have any butter tastes. The other biscuit that “wow” me was the Provence herbs flavor. It’s one of their savory biscuits. The herbs flavor was really strong and fresh. Another savory biscuit, cumin, is really special and unique. It was my first time seeing and trying cumin biscuits. They also have turmeric, chili powder, black pepper, olives…etc.

IMG_5637Locating in Place Montreal Trust makes it easily accessible in downtown Montreal. It’s definitely worth a trip to the store! Besides biscuits, they also have a variety of nougats, fudges, and chocolates. It’s variations will definitely have a space on your Christmas shopping list. The biscuits are perfect for afternoon tea with a cup of English tea, and quality times with friends and family.
